Hrithik-Kangana Scandal Comes to a Sudden, Anticlimactic End; Police to Close the Case Soon

Kangana Ranaut and Hrithik Roshan made front page news throughout 2016, and not for reasons either of them wanted. Now, after all the leaked emails, blurred pictures, and defamation suits, this year's biggest Bollywood scandal has come to a rather non-filmi end.

According to a report in The Times of India, the Mumbai police's forensic department has submitted an 'NIL report' on the entire episode. The investigations have failed to draw up any conclusion, as a result of which, the Cyber police in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai, is likely to close the case soon.

Mumbai Mirror spoke to Sanjay Saxena, joint commissioner of police, Crime Branch, who said, "We have been unable to find anything on the mail ID ([email protected]) as the server is located in the US. Now it is very difficult to ascertain who was using the account. Still, we will try to conclude (the case) from the available evidence." A senior police officer added, "It's a dead end. Only data from the server based in the US could have helped us in identifying the user of the email account."

Kangana's lawyer, Rizwan Siddiquee, responded to this latest development, and said, "We are not surprised to learn that the police have, after a thorough investigation, filed an NIL report, which means that they could not trace any imposter as was claimed by Hrithik Roshan."
