Christian Louboutin Casts Its First Ever Plus-Size Model in New Beauty Campaign

Luxury shoe brand Christian Louboutin has cast its first ever plus-size model for an ad for its beauty range. Twenty-seven-year-old Clementine Desseaux is a French model, who left Paris because her size made it difficult for her to find work there. She is between a size 12 and 14, and will star in the label's social media campaign for a line of rouge lipsticks. She also appears in the documentary Straight/Curve , which tracks the plus-size movement in the modelling industry.

She told The Daily Mail , “Such a big French brand using a curvier girl for her face is a big step. Not for curvy women, not for freckles, just for women… The beauty norm is changing and differences that used to be weaknesses are now turning into strengths.”

She explained why she had to move to New York, saying, “Being curvy and freckly was never easy back when I was in France. Now beauty is changing and brands are putting girls that are different in the spotlight. They are opening up to all the beauty that is in the world and not only the European, blond, skinny, white woman type.”

Earlier this year, Beth Ditto walked the ramp for Marc Jacobs in a stunning white dress.
